Skoon Squad was started by Ward 5 and the Saldanha Bay Yacht Club — brought together by a shared belief that clean, connected communities are built by the people who live in them. The SBYC Sailing Academy has since joined forces, adding youth energy and local reach to the effort.
The programme was born out of Saldanha Bay's sailing community, where pride in the water and the environment runs deep, and out of Ward 5's commitment to a cleaner community for everyone who lives here. Together, we make it easy for anyone — young or old — to pick up, log, and be proud of what they've contributed.

The Academy has joined forces with Ward 5 and SBYC, working with youth in and around Saldanha Bay to build skills, discipline, and pride in the environment. Through Skoon Squad, Academy participants take the lead as community Rangers.
